FreeCiv is an open-source empire-building strategy game inspired by the Civilization series. Guide your civilization from the Stone Age to the Space Age, researching technologies, building cities, and waging diplomacy or war.

FreeCiv supports single-player vs. AI opponents and multiplayer over LAN or internet. Multiple rulesets let you play classic Civ1/Civ2 rules or modern variants.
